Why I Fight

What a question to ask oneself

yet I ask myself that question every night

why do I fight 

I fight for the battles that have yet to be won

the wars that have just begun 

and the mistakes I've made in my past

so if I finish last

that's okay

I shouldn't be here in the first place 

but if I finish in first place 

to God be the glory 

for my story was written in the stars

about a man from Mars 

who was raised here on Earth 

destined for greatness since birth 

but never knew his own worth 

until years later 

the universe's energy never lies 

but it won't flow through someone who never tries

someone who watches as time flies 

and doesn't fight 

so I guess that's a good question 

because everyone fights at some point 

the point is knowing what you're fighting for

Second Sight

An angel awakens 
but this one's without wings 
she traded them in 
to once again 
be amongst the people 
where she's most comfortable 
and also to get a closer view 
of a world that looked so different 
from a distance 
she had to get away from the clouds
just to see the difference 
the skies are clearer than she remembers 
and she never could've envisioned peace
that was until now
she sees the beauty behind the madness
the love at war with fear
and hope trying to be restored 
that's why she's here
why else would she come back
if not to help a world 
where so many are lost 
just as she was
this angel has definitely awaken
in more ways than one

Your silence speaks volumes 
but I can no longer afford to be quiet 
not after everything I've lost 
and everyone I've pushed away 
including you
that could be why you're silent 
perhaps you don't know what to say
or you don't have anything to say at all 
I never imagined it would be this way 
but I have to keep trying 
otherwise I'll just keep crying
and I promised myself I wouldn't cry
besides now is not the time for tears 
in spite of your silence 
my love is louder 
so maybe one day you'll be ready 
because if I know anything about you 
it's that you won't stay silent for long
