Anxious To Live

It seems like only yesterday
how cliché is that to say 
I didn't want to go out that way
still that's the way I went out
all I remember was my heart racing
but it wasn't ready to cross the finish line
so I knew that I would be fine
it was the events that were to follow
that made what I did hard to swallow 
I left behind a life 
sure it didn't seem like much of a life
but nonetheless it was mine
and at the time it was all I knew 
which meant it was time for something new
but that didn't stop the pain in my chest
the lack of rest
nor the shortness of breath 
it felt like I was being recruited by death 
but I've already seen how death looks 
and if looks could kill
death wouldn't need to use a little white pill
I would've been gone in the blink of an eye
that's why I'm no longer scared to sleep at night
because darkness is where I see the most light

a moment to think 

think about everything

you thought you were dead

Exposed To Fear (Hanging On To Faith)

Can you hear the voices
not just the ones in your head
but the ones that want you to stay in bed 
and dream
while they plot and scheme
trying to replace your faith with fear
constantly whispering in your ear
because even though you're the cure
there are times when you're not sure
and that lowers your defenses 
leaving you virtually defenseless 
as fear begins to spread quickly
and it can take it's toll
so you can't let it take control 
otherwise there's no coming back 
and fear will continue to attack 
making you feel completely weak
as if you've already reached your peak
which is not true
because there are very few stronger than you
so you're not through yet
and this is far from a new threat
you may come away looking different
but your faith will always be the difference

Window Pain

The world has been waiting

it's been far too long

so now is the time for you to be strong

but you were told it was okay to hide 

and that you should stay inside 

for what 

to protect you 

from what 

the view

now you've got this pain in your gut

and you can't breathe

it's like something's telling you to leave

but you don't leave

you just move close enough to hear

and that's when it becomes clear

it's not just the world you fear

it's not knowing your place in the world

do you not think there would be enough space

for all the problems you could face

if you try to leave your mark 

in a world as dark as this

sure it's hit or miss

but it's something you must try to do

unless wasting away is okay with you

What you're seeing isn't an illusion 

but before you come to the conclusion

that I'm drowning in that sea of sorrow

hoping I never make it to see tomorrow

things are not as they once were

and I know you're thinking

that it looks like I'm sinking

because the old me wanted to sink instead of swim

but I promise I'm not him 

things are not as they once were

not anymore

so what am I under water for

last time it had something to do with bubbles

which I used to hide my troubles 

or hide from my troubles

whichever the case may be

or maybe I'm hiding from the trouble I've caused

and that cause isn't so great after all

after all that's how I felt in the past 

so why would I expect this to last

things are not as they once were

that's why

I'm not down at all 

this is just me meditating underwater

crown and all

so since I've been given this time to borrow

I swam out of that sea of sorrow

into this river of rebirth

because I knew my worth

my reasons still haven't changed

so while you do see me floating there

that doesn't mean I won't be coming up for air

Field Of Snakes

These are your friends
at least at one time they were
maybe they still are
so just maybe they've got your back
but what if they choose to attack
and go from being loyal
to beginning to coil
then strike
because they see something they don't like
or they feel threatened
could you survive the poisonous venom
that some have within them
or would you put up much of a fight
after receiving a bite
no venom to worry about
so no poison to suck out
just a painful reminder
of listening to lies
then believing in their disguise 
they want you to believe that everything's fine
but you should know that's by design
these are your friends
at least at one time they were
so make that the last time

Us Against ..Ourselves: The Voice Of A Voiceless Society

They make us feel like we don't belong here

so they show us why we should live in fear

hide what they don't want us to see

keep us from the person we're supposed to be

maybe that's why so many of our soldiers are overseas

we have the power to bring the powers that be to their knees

members of our family proudly stand guard 

while the enemy rests comfortably in our own back yard

but we've been brainwashed since the beginning

they had us believe that wars were the key to winning

and this has been taught by generations of cultures 

while high up above lie the same circle of vultures

waiting to feast of what remains 

then dispose of the blood that courses through our veins 

so much hatred for our own kind

that would kind of make like inner peace hard to find

but that's what we're needing

if we're ever to stop the bleeding 

for world peace to exist

Love must be something we can no longer resist

they don't want us to think that it's really possible

so to help we've become our biggest obstacle 

and once we finally get out of own way 

they'll finally be forced to listen to what we have to say

Where are you going to go
somebody always wants to know
but not just any somebody
the one who was never on your side
even now they wouldn't offer you a ride
you could lie to them
but it's easier to say goodbye to them
because it really is about the journey
and not the destination
that's why you left with no hesitation
talk about how much you've grown
look at the courage you've shown
leaving without looking back 
that took guts 
they probably think you're nuts
but this is about how you feel
and more importantly how you heal
Life isn't always a walk in the park 
especially when you're walking in the dark
but it's bright now
because you can see your light now
which means you're happy as of right now
so it looks like the celebration continues 
good thing you brought your balloons with you

just look at their alignment
maybe they're protecting her

she is Light

she's not even the center of attention

recently discovered
from an unknown galaxy
is she capable of sustaining life
she is Life
but definitely not a planet
there's no walking all over her
so if she's no longer a star
what is she
and why can everyone see her
because that was their wish
now she's everything they love

Don't you think you deserve peace
it's obviously good for the soul
yet you don't want to surrender control
at least that much is clear
but your control is rooted in your fear
so maybe it's time to let it go
even though it's all you know 
nobody's saying you should give up
but it's time to live up to the hype
unless you're the type to set the bar
then forget who you are 
FYI you're a person with a vision
and it was you who made that decision 
which means since you can see it 
you have a responsibility to be it
stop fighting with yourself
take ownership of your faults 
then maybe you'll produce better results
the energy you possess is magic
and it would be tragic if you were to lose it
all because you refused to use it
nobody's saying you should give up
unless it's coming from that voice of yours
so as always the choice is yours
