glorified in history books
propaganda in every school
competition over who's the bigger fool
preaching about the land of the free
without mentioning that there was a fee
some of us have paid those high prices
while others indulged in their own vices
now we lie in a field of snakes
terrified by the sound one makes
where the home of the brave
is still the home of the slave
we're praying for any chance of survival
hoping that this will be our revival
they're praying that we won't
while at the same time hoping we don't
but never mind what we hear
now is the time to drop every fear
it's better to give than to receive
that's what I believe
I also believe no one ever really dies
and the universe never lies
so we're still the key to opening the door
even if nothing seems real anymore
