What's It Like

Tell me what it's like to be you 
I can only imagine
but that wouldn't be right 
that wouldn't be showing respect 
you deserve to be heard 
everything you had to go through 
some of it you chose to go through 
just to be who you've become 
the amazing person you've become 
no wonder we take you for granted 
we only know our struggles
I may be able to relate somewhat 
but that just makes us distant relatives
like third cousins
we barely see one another 
so how can I walk in your shoes
even putting them on would be a challenge for me
it is still challenging for you 
how could it not be
maybe that's all I need to know 
it takes a lot to be who you've become 
the amazing person you've become
I'll always withhold any judgment 
for we're all far from finished products
