You told me that your nightmares were real
and that you didn't know how to feel anymore
plus your body was plenty sore
from the pain you've experienced over the years
so much so that you were afraid to face your peers
fearing that they would never believe you
and crazy is how they would perceive you
you couldn't have been more right
as some of their hearts were as black as night
but it was that darkness that allowed you to shine bright
as your light was revealed in place of your shame
you even refused to give your nightmares a name
thankfully acknowledging their presence
didn't allow them to consume your essence
you must be stronger than you think
so if once again you find yourself on the brink of disaster
remember there's so much you've yet to master
maybe too much for your lifetime
but wouldn't you like to try
wouldn't you like just one more dream before you die
because that's the true nightmare
knowing that your dreams are right there
but you show signs of being scared to take the leap
it's like closing your eyes when you're not really asleep
