I don't know if you see me
that's okay if you don't
I just wonder if your soul sees me
if it remembers me from a past life
maybe we were husband and wife
I'm not really sure
can it tell me if my heart is pure
did it love as much as it loves now
if so I'm not really sure how

back when I didn't think I was good enough
I didn't know how to be tough
I was learning about coping
while at the same time hoping
that somehow you saw me
as something more than just a softy
maybe your soul saw me

if so I'd like to know how
I've been told that I'm hard to find
maybe you already had me in mind
that could only mean that you're not too far away
so maybe there's a way we can see
if our souls are truly meant to be

This might seem hard to believe
but I too am losing faith in humanity
actually that's not true
the truth is that I never had faith in humanity
allow me to explain why
humanity will sell you a dream
then deliver you a nightmare
when there are so many already in darkness
humanity isn't always united
therefore not always equal
there are drops of hope
but there are also storms of disappointment
the reason is simple
because part of humanity lives
while the other part only exists
all I want is a clear blue sky
with the sun shining as bright as my dreams
or a starry night
with the moon as full as the love in my heart
but to believe in humanity is not enough anymore
and the truth is that I never had faith in humanity
I have faith in Life
so the way I see it
humanity needs to work harder to live

When the darkness takes over
it's like an adrenaline rush
you feel powerful
you feel invincible
and you believe that you're in control
when really you're being controlled
by your pride
your ego
your fears
and your anger
all of them are consuming you
like a parasite feeds on its host
When the darkness takes over
the parts of you that are good disappear
if you let them
but you can not let them disappear
the good keeps you from losing yourself
and becoming unrecognizable
from there you'll begin to enjoy the feeling
but it will be very short
because like any addiction
there are highs and lows
don't let the darkness consume you completely
you don't want to be just
another victim that couldn't swim

Be whoever you want to be
whatever you dreamed you would be
just as long as who you want to be
is who you feel you should be
because that's the only way to be
a lot of people try to be
what someone else wants them to be
so they agree to be
someone they really don't want to be
how can that be
I think the question now has to be
who do you want to be
and not what does the world want you to be
if it's who you want to be
then it's what you should be
stop making it so difficult to be
when it should be simple to just be
because anything you want to be
it's possible to be
and more importantly it's okay to be
so don't let anyone tell you who not to be
because of who they chose to be
being yourself is the best person to be
so remember to just be

I understand if you have to go
but just to let you know
that your disappearing act
doesn't take away from the fact
that you're standing in your own way
now I know that anything I say
you'll just believe it to be fiction
as it could potentially cause friction between us
but have you seen us lately
it's like we're strangers now
but there's no sense in trying to figure out how
or even why that happened
I'll take the blame
just remember that we never said our goodbyes
and every time you've looked into my eyes
you knew that I had nothing to hide from you
which means I've never lied to you
so believe me when I say
that you're in your own way
maybe one day
you'll realize just who had your back
and who's holding you back
then you'll be unstoppable

someone you didn't know was there
but has been there this entire time
and where have you been this entire time
are you in a coma
or just sleeping
you need something to wake you up
something positive
something real
something you've never seen
sounds like a crazy dream
why haven't you seen it
everyone else seems to have seen it
but it doesn't matter
because if you can't see it
the question is
does it exist or not
maybe they see dreams coming true
maybe they see a seed of greatness in you
or perhaps a destiny waiting to be fulfilled
it's obvious they see something

just what it feels like to have

There's been a report of shots fired
but none of them hit me
then it hit me
how you can pull the trigger so quickly
then quickly hide the evidence
it's evident
that your intentions weren't to come clean
but in fact flee the scene
if it weren't for the fact that you were seen
fleeing the scene
one may forget what they were seeing
the autonomy of a human being
and so it seems
that every time we've been ripped apart
I have to get out the sewing machine
in an attempt to sow the seams
after you attempt to kill my dreams
honestly I'm getting tired of that
I could've followed your tire tracks
found you
and fired back
or put an end to everything you've worked for
just because I felt that I was worth more
but truthfully
I think I'm handling it beautifully
that's something amazingly beautiful about me
I don't solve violence with violence
besides if I become violent
there's usually silence
so I rather stay silent
to make sure there are no reports of any sirens

are you hung up on status
as in your Facebook status
is there really no filter
or did you use Instagram
are those even your words
or was that a retweet
who are you
when nobody's watching
are you the person
or is this the persona
don't answer that
just remember one thing
somebody's always watching
so it's better to be true to yourself
because who you are
isn't always what they want to see

maybe she just fell
you say that she was happy
but you never spoke to her
maybe you just ignored the signs
you didn't hear her cries
but you laughed at her pain
you saw her smiles
but not her scars
and she still had wounds
maybe she just fell
or maybe she felt neglected
bullied
unloved
invisible
numb
perhaps she never felt alive
and that she needed to die
in order to live
maybe she just fell
she needed a hand
but instead you gave her an excuse
an excuse for what happened next

but I know how hard it can be to speak
if you feel that nobody cares
why should you be the one who shares
so keeping secrets is a must
especially when you don't know who to trust
and you always find yourself complaining
when really you wish it would just stop raining
because before it started pouring
like a bird you were soaring
you were too busy spreading your wings
to worry about the little things
until you ran into a wall
in the form of those praying for your downfall
now you're so afraid of the pain
that you won't even go outside in the rain
but it isn't fear that I see
because I know how much you want to be free
remember you were once before
and you will be once more
I see someone who's been shown so many lies
that they can't even believe their own eyes
so if somehow you should ever go blind
strength will be the first thing you'll need to find

I wouldn't know where to start
sure I could speak from my heart
and tell you my story
about how I don't do it for the glory
but all you'll see are my tears
so naturally you'll think it's my fears
or maybe my pride
perhaps the pain I'll try to hide
honestly I really don't care
because you weren't there
still you're not the reason why I hurt
and if I've ever felt like dirt
it's my fault for feeling that way
not anything that you had to say
you don't even pick up a phone
and even though I don't want to be alone
I must prepare to be
more than that I must dare to be
because I see being on my own
as a way to show just how much I've grown
things do have the ability to go wrong
