How long has it been
can you even remember
when was the last time
your cup overflowed
really you should be asking
why every version of yourself
has died from dehydration
but you know the answer
the well finally ran dry
maybe you thought that
if you just kept giving
others would return the favor
and refill your cup for once
that didn't happen though
all you were told was that
you didn't let anyone pour
into you like you should've
but that wasn't the issue
the problem was assuming
people would drink responsibly
as you were pouring recklessly
if you just kept giving
why wouldn't others keep taking
and that's what happened
sometimes being who you are
can come at a cost
and the price sky rockets
when your self-worth is low
