Endure

The truth is

people are truly suffering

that's nothing new

but turn on the news

and what do we see

lives lost

killed by Harvey

homes destroyed

people forced to rebuild

and start over

while we sit here

feeling sorry for ourselves

complaining

afraid to rebuild

believing life is over

taking air for granted

without checking our pulse

or putting our hand over our hearts

not to pledge allegiance 

but to prove a point

the truth is

people are truly suffering

but if their hearts still beat

there's no storm they can't weather
