I had the right to remain silent
so I chose to remain silent
by whatever means necessary
still I stayed tuned in
even when I didn't tune in
I observed every action taken
heard every word spoken
and read every post on social media
I even read open letters written
by those attempting to justify
why such actions were taken
I wanted so badly to respond
but I knew my response
would simply be a reaction
driven by emotion
perpetued by ignorance
so I chose to remain silent
yet attentive
there were plenty of cheers
and many in tears
so I can no longer be silent
which means I give up that right
because as we all know
it's hard for me to stop resisting
