Permission To Speak

Am I supposed to just keep quiet 
go blind to everything I see
numb to everything I feel
and ignore everything I know 
that's not possible 
because once you're awake 
whether you go back to sleep 
or lay there with your eyes closed
the eyes have seen
so they will always see
maybe that's just me
I've read everything that's been said
from the articles
with all of the comments 
to all of the posts
containing all of the hashtags
that everyone has tweeted
and retweeted
none of it really matters
even if it's from me
but what I won't do is keep quiet
and no more moments of silence 
at least not from me
the dead are silence enough
