and although it may annoy you
to see them keep trying
you know you would be lying
if you say you weren't flattered
because your dreams have never shattered
and your faith has never wavered
just think of all the days you've labored
hustling in silence
never resorting to violence
letting your success make noise
much respect for showing poise
but if you think they're taking a break
then you're making a mistake
the moment they catch you off guard
they'll be coming at you hard
they'll be aiming for your heart
but if they were really smart
they wouldn't bother to take the shot
because the only chance they've got
is really no chance at all
still they pray for you to fall
your confidence begins to rise
and so begins the lies
it's just another distraction
failing to cause a chain reaction
leaving them with nothing more to say
maybe it's better that way
because there's no explanation needed
and no reason to get heated
so if they should ever annoy you
remember they can never destroy you
