Transformation

I remember what it was like 
not having a purpose in life 
feeling lost at times 
without any sort of direction
or an identity to call my own
I was part of the problem
and that made it difficult 
to be who I wanted to be
because I was too busy
using what I was good at
to impress those who 
didn't take me seriously
or even stick around at all
now I have a purpose
and it hasn't gotten any easier
because it's still difficult
to be who I'm supposed to be
without hurting someone
even when I transform
I'm still as recognizable as before
so how different am I really
have I truly become better
it's clear which direction to go
but it's unclear which me is going

L.O.V.E. Notes: Before The Dawn

I never worry about the dark days
because they've been dark before
and I honestly liked it that way
I was different back then
hiding from most of the world 
yet still hoping to be noticed
people are beginning to notice now
maybe they find me to be genuine 
unlike before when they called me fake
or maybe they just see me in the gym
working hard to improve myself
and while I appreciate the flattery
it doesn't matter as much anymore
even though it feels good to be wanted
I can remember a time when I wasn't
which has truly humbled me
that's why I stay focused on my purpose
generating as much energy as I can
and when I look over the horizon 
I can see the sun rising 
so no matter how dark things get
the light will always know where I am

Forever Place

You still don't smile enough

at least that's what people say

but don't let what people say
get under your skin 

this isn't like it was before

when you gave them the power

to say whatever they wanted

just so they could bring you down

it's not going to work this time

remember all the times you spent

going to your happy place

only to find sadness yet again
you had to know that would happen
because what good is a happy place 

if it sits in a negative space
you've found something better anyways
better than a place that was never yours
in a much more positive space
should things get bad again
you have somewhere to go
and something to smile about
it wasn't easy to find
but then again
neither was your smile

Si te lo quitas todo
quién eres tú
si borras las fotos
te quitas el maquillaje
y te escondes del mundo
quién eres tú
eres un cuerpo
un cerebro
o una alma
tal vez las tres
porque es una posibilidad
quién eres tú
y eres la misma en la luz
o diferente en el oscuro
la percepción es...
no te debe importar
porque eres la realidad
quién eres tú
todo lo que no ven
y no quieren conocer

All she wanted was the sun
instead you gave her clouds
that covered her in darkness
how could you do that to her
you were supposed to be different 
not like all the others
who were jealous of her light
that's why she loved you
more than she's ever loved anyone
all she wanted was the sun
but you would rather have rain
enough rain to cause a flood
and wash away her dreams
now she's heartbroken
because she can't trust you
or support you the way
you should've trusted her
to make those dreams come true
how could you be as cold as winter
all she wanted was the sun 
so she could shine brighter
than she ever has with anyone else
but now she'll shine her brightest 
without you standing in her way

By A Thread

This is where you find out
what you're made of
or what you're afraid of
are you more worried about failing
than you are about falling
maybe you would survive the fall
not saying you should let go
but it's an option
whereas failure isn't
unless they're one in the same
is that why you keep holding on
hanging on by a thread
to see who's the strongest
who's going to be first to snap
or perhaps you're buying your time
until someone comes along 
and puts you out of your misery
with one swipe of a blade 
that's when you'll realize
you just couldn't cut it
